Minnesota Census Jobs Still Open to April 2010
The U.S. Census Bureau continues to hire thousands of people in Minnesota until April when the Census starts. There are field jobs for recruiters, crew leaders, census takers and census clerks. The Census bureau will hire 8,000 positions throughout Minnesota so this is a good opportunity to earn extra money.
These jobs pay well with top level positions at $85,000 and part-time lower level positions averaging $13 per hour. Of course the rate of pay depends on the position and location of that position. If the position you apply for asks that you use your own vehicle for work related mileage then it is reimbursed.
Things to be aware of if you'd like to be a census taker:
- You'll be working in your own community to locate household, explain about the census, helping people complete their 2010 questionnaire and recording responses on paper forms.
- Since most people are at home in the evenings or the weekend this is when you'll be required to work.
- Most positions require a valid driver's license and a vehicle
- Most work schedules are 20 - 40 hours per week.
- Census takers are paid weekly by direct deposit or mail.
- Each census take gets up to 4 days paid training.
- You'll need to pass a background check.
- Bi-lingual speakers are encouraged to apply.
